Time Management: Top 3 Tips

Time – We coaches frequently hear from our clients that they don’t feel like they have enough of it and wish they had more.

We all have the same number of hours in day. It’s the way we use them that determines our productivity and often, our stress levels.

Fortunately, we’ve learned some helpful tips and tools to help us all manage time better.

Here are our top three tips (and one bonus tip) to help you tame that time monster and get it working in your favor.

1 – Know Thyself

When do you have the most energy in the day? When are you most productive?

Once you’ve identified your highest productivity times, you can build your schedule around them. (As much as possible, anyway. Sometimes clients and others dictate our schedules.)

Also, know how you like to work. Do you prefer to plan your projects out well in advance? Or are you more energized by tighter deadlines? Believe it or not, both are totally fine! (As long as you hit those deadlines!)

2 – Prioritize

Focus on your highest priority projects and those with the closest deadlines.

3 – Use Time Blocking

Schedule every project on your calendar so you know what you are working on and when. If you know you work better in the morning, block times then to work on your highest priorities.

Bonus: Procrastinating? Use the Pomodoro Method.

The Pomodoro Method is a great way to get yourself moving when you’re feeling stuck or unmotivated. You can use a modified method and set the timer for a shorter period of time. Often, just getting started is enough to keep you going.
